San Marcos Parent Child Workshop

San Marcos Parent-Child Workshop (SMPCW) is a nurturing cooperative preschool serving children ages 2.5 to 5 in the Santa Barbara and Goleta areas. The school focuses on holistic development through a play-based learning model, emphasizing self-directed play alongside structured group activities. This environment is designed to support early developmental milestones and provides a foundation for children requiring specialized developmental support.

The school offers two distinct programming models to meet different family needs. The morning program (Monday–Friday, 8:45 AM–12 PM) utilizes a co-op model where parents actively participate in their child's education, volunteering weekly and attending evening classes to learn age-appropriate activities and conflict resolution strategies. For families seeking a more traditional setting, the afternoon program (12 PM–3:30 PM) is staffed by professional educators and does not require parental participation, providing a consistent, professionally-led environment for play-based learning.

SMPCW is dedicated to providing a supportive community that integrates special education principles, including support for Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and therapeutic-style developmental engagement.
