Pilgrim Pines Camp & Conference Center

Isabella, MinnesotaOvernight Camp

Camp Buckskin is an overnight summer camp that specializes in serving boys and girls ages 6-18 who are experiencing academic and/or social skill difficulties. More specifically, the majority of our campers have AD/HD, Learning Disabilities, Aspergers or similar needs. Our campers have average to well above average intelligence and have a world of potential that has yet to be developed. They simply need extra help and support to convert their potentials into abilities.

Since 1959, Camp Buckskin has been helping children with special needs, with over 8,000 children benefiting from their therapeutic program. The camp focuses on helping youth stay focused, gain knowledge and skills, and experience personal growth and improvement. In addition to traditional camp activities, the campers receive academic instruction and participate in a Personal Growth program that addresses social skill goals and interpersonal communication skills.

Parents receive written reports and insights to better help their child continue the progress made at camp. The camp's program is designed to supplement the efforts of the home and school, providing consistent support for the campers. The campers are recognized for their achievements and are guided through a process of skill development and personal growth. This approach has proven to be effective in helping children improve their peer relations, problem-solving abilities, and overall success.

With a focus on creating a smoother transition into the new school year and helping children become happier and more successful, Camp Buckskin's program has made a significant impact on the lives of many children. The camp's commitment to providing a supportive and consistent environment for campers with special needs has gained them accreditation with the ACA, demonstrating their dedication to excellence in serving the special needs community.

If you have a child who could benefit from extra support and skill development in a positive and nurturing environment, consider how Camp Buckskin can help your child now and for many years to come.
