Tap Times Tables is the next level up from Math Plus Minus, developed by PKCLsoft. Originally designed to be a way to learn and memorize times tables through repetition, Tap Times Tables is a fun and interactive game with scores and rewards.
The app has a few areas to integrate different learning styles. If you tap the graduation cap, you are brought to a screen where you can first learn the times tables. Pick two numbers, and the app will show you the correct answer for multiplying those numbers.
If you tap the play button in Tap Times Tables, you are given a series of questions to answer, and you select from bubbles that have answers. When you tap a bubble, a catapult launches an acorn to pop the bubble. Throughout the game, you hear lively music and affirmations from the squirrel characters, which provides great feedback.
The Challenge game gives you a times table question, but it gives you one variable to multiply and the answer, so you must figure out which number to multiply to the one given will result in the correct answer provided.
In the Settings tool, you can select to play in Mastery Mode or Memory Booster. Mastery Mode gives you one times table to work with, and it selects randomly a series of 12 questions. You have 15 seconds to answer, during which time you accumulate points. A blinking snowflake at the top of the screen blinks the seconds and shows how much time you have left to answer. If you don’t answer within 15 seconds, you can still select and option, but no points are awarded. If Mastery Mode is turned off, you get a quiz with all the times tables. Memory Booster, when turned on, will return the player to the first question if he makes a mistake; this method is a great way to learn through repetition.
Tap Times Tables is linked to the Game Center, so you can check progress and compare scores with friends. The app might seem complex, but it is very user friendly (you can start playing right away), and it does accomplish a great deal of goals. Tap Times Tables is comprehensive and will teach learners what they need to know to memorize and use their times tables. Using a fun and friendly interface, Tap Times Tables makes learning exciting and entertaining.
