Seeing the world through my eyes is amazing for several reasons, but it's also been one of my biggest challenges. For most people, all sound information projects up to a certain part of our brain, the auditory cortex. For me, all information turned into images and pictures, which caused big distractions and prevented me from listening.  I wasn't properly diagnosed with Asperger's until age 48. My psychologist recommended Neurofield treatments. These would allow my brain to heal and help me become mainstreamed. The first thing the doctor did was to get my history. Though there is no solid proof, my doctor believes that I had PTSD since birth. We do know my mother had an accident when she was 7 months pregnant with me. She fell hard on an icy road and broke her Coccyx, and sprained her lower back. It is possible I was born with a concussion.  He then took a brain map – this is a picture of my brain and what shape it was in. My frontal lobe was in high beta. That means it was very hot and going about 5 times faster then average. When he then took an EEG of my brain waves, he could not see very many alpha waves. This is extremely important, why? I understand and embrace that I have Asperger's and my mind works differently. All I really want are a few good friends and to feel like I’m a part of someone’s life. Just to feel special I guess. I’ve been thinking a lot about what happens to me with friendships. People always say there are different levels of friendship. And I understand that there are. But my mind is like an on and off switch. My issue is that my brain is either emotionally turned off or emotionally turned fully on – there are no in-between stages.  So, anytime I’ve ever had a friend, I am fully into the friendship and end up pushing them away and smothering them. I get excited when someone wants to be my friend and cares about me. With autism, you don’t exactly have friends that care about you often and it’s easy to get excited. This summer I made a really good friend. A true friendship, but I did the same thing that I always do. It’s either on or off. And for me, on is obsessively focusing on the friendship and the friend. My Asperger Mind &#8211; On Friendship

 Many blogs and special needs supporters are writing responses to "I Wish I Didn't Have Asperger's." These supporters do not know who this person is, but someone typed "I wish I didn't have Asperger's" into Google, and now floods of parents, caregivers, therapists, and others are writing their own responses to this query.   The messages are filled with sympathy, empathy, hope, and positivity about autism. Many individuals with autism are telling this person that they are fulfilling meaningful places in society, and parents and others without autism are urging that people do love their children and show empathy.   The hashtag #AutismPositivity2012 also started trending on Twitter to hopefully spread the message that people with autism are not alone, that others do understand how it feels to have autism, and that there are positive attributes to be associated with autism.   If you would like to join the Autism Positivity 2012 movement with your blog, write a post with your blog title "to 'I Wish I Didn't Have Asperger's'" and be sure to use the #AutismPositivity2012 hashtag.   Arianne Zurcher posted earlier this week on her blog to someone who left a comment on her Huffington Post articles. This commenter admitted to typing the “I Wish I didn’t have Asperger’s” into Google, and Zurcher commented that over 115 people have participated in the Autism Positivity flash blog.

 Discovering the Truth About Asperger's — What Is Asperger's?  Among many special needs children and disorders, one that is commonly misunderstood is Asperger's Disorder. In fact, many children with Asperger's can go many years, even into their teen or adult years, before they are properly diagnosed.  What is Asperger's?  Asperger's is a pervasive development disorder or autism spectrum disorder, which is why there are many similarities between autism and Asperger's.
