Two days remain. This is what's happening on the final weekend at Milano Cortina 2026.
USA vs. Canada for Hockey Gold
The centerpiece of finals weekend is the para ice hockey gold medal game: USA vs. Canada, Sunday March 15 at 11:05 AM ET on NBC and Peacock. This is the third consecutive Paralympic final between these two programs. USA won in PyeongChang 2018 and Beijing 2022. Canada last won gold at Turin 2006.
Team USA has never lost a Paralympic final. They are hunting a fifth consecutive gold medal, which would be the longest winning streak in Winter Paralympic team sport history.
Declan Farmer entered these Games with 34 career Paralympic points. He leaves with 58, passing Canadian Billy Bridges' all-time record. He scored 14 goals in this tournament alone, breaking the single-Games record. He recorded four hat tricks in four preliminary games. The U.S. outscored opponents 34-2 in the round-robin stage and beat Czechia 6-0 in the semifinals.
Canada reached the final by defeating China in their semifinal. Their roster includes veterans Greg Westlake, Ina Forrest, and Mark Arendz. They've been working toward another gold since 2006. This is the most competitive Canadian team assembled in years.
The game is Sunday, March 15 at 11:05 AM ET. NBC and Peacock carry it live.
What's Happening Today: Day 8, March 14
Oksana Masters competes in para cross-country at Tesero today. NBC's live updates list "U.S. eyes more cross-country gold" for Friday's slate. Masters won two gold medals and a bronze earlier this week, pushing her career Paralympic medal count to 22 across Summer and Winter Games. She has competed in every Winter Paralympics since Vancouver 2010 and has never left a Games without a medal.
The wheelchair curling final runs today at Pinerolo: China vs. Canada. China defeated the defending champions from Great Britain in the semifinals. Canada beat Switzerland. The bronze game is Latvia vs. Switzerland.
Additional medal events today include para alpine skiing slalom at Tofane, para biathlon 12.5km at Tesero, and para snowboard banked slalom at Livigno. The full schedule is at NBCOlympics.com and Paralympic.org.
Day 9 and the Closing Ceremony
Sunday, March 15 is the final competition day. The para ice hockey gold medal game at 11:05 AM ET is the marquee event. Additional medal events include para cross-country relays at Tesero and the final para alpine slalom runs at Tofane.
The closing ceremony is Sunday evening at the Olympic Stadium in Cortina. NBC covers the ceremony in primetime at 8:00 PM ET.
The Medal Table Through Day 7
China leads the standings with 12 gold, 9 silver, and 12 bronze for 33 total medals. Team USA sits in second with at least 9 gold, 5 silver, and 5 bronze for 19 medals. Italy is third on home soil with a historic total that surpassed its all-time Winter Paralympic record from Lillehammer 1994.
Ukraine, which led the boycott of the opening ceremony parade, held first place in the medal table early in the Games and remains in the top five.
Why Finals Weekend Matters
These Games delivered storylines that went beyond what anyone anticipated at the opening ceremony in Verona. The boycott happened, and then the competition unfolded. Athletes profiled before the Games won. Athletes making their Paralympic debuts medaled. Veterans added to all-time records. Italy showed up on home ground. Declan Farmer rewrote the record book in one tournament.
Two days left. USA vs. Canada for hockey gold on Sunday morning is the main event. Oksana Masters is racing today. The closing ceremony wraps it Sunday night.
