Learn the Early Signs of Dyslexia

One out of every three children entering first-grade lacks the basic skills for success in school. The National Center for Educational Statistics shows that as many as 20% of our nation's children have substantial difficulties learning to read, and in California 57% of fourth-graders cannot read at a basic level. The problem may be dyslexia.

Early diagnosis and intervention are critical for minimizing the impact of dyslexia. Parents with histories of reading/language difficulties should take note of their children's early development. Documenting milestones can be a useful tool for determining if intervention is needed. If you've received a diagnosis, consider finding an educational program that meets your child's specific needs.
