Karlene Alves

Dr. Karlene Alves, PsyD, provides holistic mental health support for children, preteens, teens, and adults. She specializes in helping families navigate complex challenges such as anxiety, depression, and life transitions. Her practice is particularly focused on supporting neurodiverse or struggling youth through specialized areas like teen DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), managing teen anxiety, and building emotional regulation skills during pre-adolescence.

Recognizing that a child's well-being is deeply connected to the family unit, Dr. Alves also works closely with parents. She provides strategies to effectively support children with behavioral issues, such as Oppositional Defiance (ODD), and helps parents manage their own mental well-being and stress. Her expertise also extends to perinatal mental health, with specialized training through Postpartum Support International to assist with pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum needs.

Dr. Alves utilizes a collaborative, integrative approach, incorporating evidence-based modalities including CBT, DBT, Psychodynamic, and IPT to meet each client's unique needs. Services are available via online telehealth, making specialized care accessible from home. She is currently accepting new clients; please note that individual sessions are $220 and email is the preferred method for initial outreach to define treatment goals.
