Laurel Hall School provides specialized education for students ages 5–20 with emotional and learning disabilities
Laurel Hall School is a non-public special education school serving students ages 5–20 (grades 1–12) with emotional disabilities, learning differences, and multiple disabilities requiring highly structured, individualized support. The school is part of Brook Lane's continuum of mental health services and works closely with the Washington County and Frederick County Boards of Education to provide comprehensive special education aligned with each student's IEP, including psychiatric support services when needed.
The school's program emphasizes individualized learning styles and accommodations across core academics—English Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, and Science—taught at each student's ability level. With a student-to-teacher ratio designed for intensive support, Laurel Hall provides the structured environment and specialized services that students with complex needs require, including those with secondary disabilities. The school is a member of MANSEF (Maryland Association of Non-public Special Education Facilities).
A key focus is transitioning students back to their home schools as quickly as possible; credits earned at Laurel Hall meet Maryland State Department of Education requirements and transfer to students' local education agencies for graduation and diploma issuance. The Hagerstown location serves up to 90 students, with rolling admissions. Contact (301) 733-0330 or visit brooklane.org/laurel-hall for enrollment and program details.
