Schwartz School serves ages 3–22 with disabilities, offering specialized education with integrated therapeutic services in small classrooms
The Schwartz School at Meeting Street serves students ages 3–22 with multiple disabilities and complex support needs. This Department of Education-approved program is designed for students with physical disabilities, visual or hearing impairment, developmental disabilities, communication disorders, sensory-motor delays, deafblindness, and related conditions who demonstrate potential for progress. The school combines specialized education with integrated therapeutic services in a small, structured environment with just 36 students and 8 classroom teachers.
Comprehensive support is built into every classroom. The team includes registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and licensed therapists specializing in speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and sensory integration. Services are delivered using a transdisciplinary approach—both within classroom instruction and through one-on-one sessions. Students also access community-based therapies including aquatic therapy and hippotherapy, promoting real-world skills and engagement beyond the classroom.
Family involvement is central to the program. Parents are invited to participate in classroom activities, join parent support groups, attend special events, and communicate daily with staff. The school accepts students on a rolling basis (no fixed deadline) and serves grades Pre-K through 12 in ungraded, age-integrated classrooms.
