Minnick Schools

Minnick Schools, a division of Lutheran Family Services of Virginia, provides specialized day school programs for children and young adults ages 5 through 22. These not-for-profit, licensed schools are specifically designed for students who are not finding success in traditional public school settings. The programs focus on academic and behavioral instruction, offering a person-centered approach to help students navigate complex learning and developmental needs.

The school specializes in supporting students with a wide range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorders, Emotional Disabilities, Behavioral Disorders, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, and Other Health Impairments (OHI). With an average class size of 8, Minnick Schools provide a highly structured and supportive environment. In addition to specialized learning difference programs, the school offers counseling services to assist students in their transition back to public school or toward the most appropriate next setting.

Accredited by or a member of the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Education Facilities (VAISEF), Minnick Schools operate on principles of stewardship and shared ownership. The school offers programs for Kindergarten through 11th grade, including post-graduate options and summer school opportunities.
