Mixter Institute for Transition

Mixter Institute for Transition, part of Lincoln Park Public Schools, is dedicated to providing specialized support for students with diverse learning needs. The district utilizes a person-first philosophy, ensuring that every child receives a quality education tailored to their unique circumstances. Through the Resilient Schools Project, the program emphasizes trauma-informed practices and resilience-building strategies to support students' emotional and academic growth.

The curriculum is enriched with essential therapeutic services, including speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and social skills groups. These supports are integrated to ensure students have access to the developmental and specialized assistance necessary to thrive both academically and socially. Programs range from early childhood development in the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) for four-year-olds through high school levels.
