Nassau BOCES Children's Readiness Center (CRC)

Nassau BOCES Children's Readiness Center (CRC) is a specialized preschool program designed for children ages 2-5 who require a highly structured learning environment. The center specifically serves students with autism spectrum disorders and pervasive developmental disorders, focusing on the development of essential "school-like" behaviors and foundational independence.

The curriculum utilizes evidence-based interventions, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Activities of Daily Living (ADL) instruction, and a total communication approach featuring PECS. Students benefit from a multidisciplinary team that provides integrated therapeutic services, including speech-language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychology, and social work supports. The program also features adapted physical education and music to support holistic development.

CRC is a publicly funded program, and families are not billed tuition when placement is made through the district's Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE). The center is committed to family partnership, offering ongoing parent training, workshops, and support groups throughout the year to assist families navigating the special education process.
