New Focus Academy

New Focus Academy is a licensed residential treatment center in Heber City, UT, serving neurodivergent teens ages 12 to 18. The program supports students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (Levels 1 and 2), ADHD, executive functioning deficits, learning disorders, and social pragmatic communication disorders, often with co-occurring anxiety or depression. Students live on campus, receiving 24/7 support in a structured, therapeutic environment.

The Cognia-accredited academic program (grades 6-12) features small classes of six to eight students taught by licensed teachers. Specializing in IEP implementation, the academy coordinates with home districts for transcript evaluation, credit alignment, and progress reporting. Using Edmentum curriculum and NWEA MAP assessments, students can earn diplomas or engage in credit recovery via BYU Independent Study.

Clinically, students receive individualized treatment plans and coaching. Utilizing the Autonomy Development Model, the program fosters social-emotional fluency through group therapy, social skills training, and weekly recreation like rock climbing. Specialized tracks exist for adolescent boys, girls, and young adults via LifeFocus Transitions, including Autistically-focused Autonomy Housing for independent living preparation.
