Chicago special education school serving students with severe disabilities since 1968. Individualized programs, small classes, grades 11+
North Center for Handicapped Children has served Chicago's severely and multiply disabled community since 1968. Founded when six students were dismissed from traditional programs at age 15 with nowhere else to turn, North Center remains committed to helping individuals with significant disabilities develop their full potential regardless of disability type or severity.
As a small, specialized school serving students in grade 11 and beyond, North Center designs flexible, creative programs tailored to complex needs that larger agencies may not accommodate. With 9 classroom teachers supporting individualized learning, the school focuses on fostering independence, skill development, and quality of life for students with profound disabilities. North Center is a member of the National Association of Private Special Education Centers.
Rolling admissions are available. For more information about programs and services, contact North Center at (773) 777-4111 or visit northcenter.org.
