Soar Learning Center is a special education school serving students in grades 1–12 who experience behavioral and emotional challenges. Located in Saint Albans Bay, VT, SLC creates a therapeutic learning environment where small class sizes (averaging 10 students) and individualized instruction allow each student to receive personalized academic and emotional support.
The program integrates behavioral and clinical support throughout the school day. Students have access to in-class spaces designed for emotional regulation, and work regularly with behavior staff and clinicians for therapeutic processing. This combination of academic instruction and mental health support helps students develop coping skills, build emotional resilience, and stay engaged in learning.
With 77 total students and 13 classroom teachers, SLC maintains a low student-to-staff ratio that enables close monitoring and responsiveness to individual needs. The school also offers clubs and extracurricular activities—including Culinary Arts, Fitness, Gaming, and Music Production—to support social connection and skill-building beyond the classroom. Admissions follow a rolling basis, and the school is a member of the Alternative School Network.
