Solimar Academy

Solimar Academy is an alternative independent study program in Ventura, CA designed for students who learn differently, including those with autism, ADHD, and learning differences. The school customizes each student's learning plan to match their individual needs, strengths, and interests—whether that's fashion, cooking, engineering, drama, or the arts. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, Solimar tailors instruction in core skills like writing and math to align with how each student actually learns.

The program integrates real-world experience alongside academics, offering internships, work experience, volunteering opportunities, and even business-starting experiences. Students also receive explicit instruction in life skills, fitness, and financial literacy—practical tools that support independence. Special Education Support is available for creating individualized learning plans and working toward IEP goals, ensuring students with documented disabilities receive the accommodations and services they need.

Solimar offers flexibility in format, ranging from unschooling models to traditional graded coursework with high school transcripts, giving families options that work for their child's needs and learning style. With rolling admissions and small class sizes (34 total students, K-12), the school prioritizes personalized attention. Summer school and post-graduate year options are also available.
