South Central School Main Campus

South Central School Main Campus is a specialized special education school in Chicago's Grand Crossing neighborhood serving students in grades 5–8 with disabilities and learning differences. Founded in 1970, the school maintains an intimate 7:1 student-to-teacher ratio with a team of 2 dedicated teachers, ensuring individualized attention and support for each learner. This small, structured environment is designed to meet the academic and developmental needs of students requiring specialized instruction.

The school serves a diverse student body of 14 students, all of whom are students of color, reflecting a deeply inclusive community. As a nonsectarian program based in a large city setting, South Central School Main Campus provides a focused educational experience where students can build foundational skills, access individualized learning plans, and develop confidence in a supportive peer group.
