Southern Will County Coop for Special Education

Southern Will County Cooperative for Special Education (SOWIC) serves students from early childhood (ages 2-5) through eighth grade, focusing on empowering learners with diverse needs. The cooperative offers specialized programming designed to facilitate life skills and a smooth transition to adulthood, ensuring students can become active, productive members of their community.

SOWIC provides highly specialized tracks, including the Education and Life Skills (ELS) program and the Communication and Adaptive Behavior (CAB) program, which are specifically designed for students with unique learning styles, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder. For students who struggle in traditional classroom settings, the Joseph E. Fisher Therapeutic Program provides structured therapeutic support, emphasizing individualized care, intervention strategies, and specialized facilities tailored to meet specific developmental needs.

The cooperative is committed to a community-centered approach, maintaining low student-teacher ratios and fostering strong partnerships with families. Beyond student instruction, SOWIC Academy provides professional development for educators and training support for families.
