Special Education Learning Facility

Porter County Education Services (PCES) is a dedicated special education interlocal in Porter County, Indiana, serving approximately 5,000 students across the Duneland, East Porter County, and Valparaiso Community school districts. PCES focuses on a collaborative approach, bringing together parents, educators, and therapists to develop and implement effective Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each child's unique developmental and learning requirements.

The organization provides a comprehensive spectrum of supports, ranging from preschool programs for ages 2-5 to specialized services at the Special Education Learning Facility (SELF) in Valparaiso. Students can access various instructional models including inclusive services within general education settings, co-teaching, and targeted pull-out services. For students requiring more intensive, structured environments, PCES offers self-contained classrooms, as well as homebound services for those unable to attend school in person.

PCES utilizes a multidisciplinary team of professionals, including speech and language pathologists, occupational and physical therapists, and school psychologists, to provide integrated therapeutic and developmental support.
