St. Joseph Center For Special Learning

St. Joseph Center for Special Learning provides a specialized educational program for students ages 4 through 21 with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Serving Schuylkill County and surrounding areas, the center offers a comprehensive curriculum that integrates academic, social, and spiritual instruction within a safe, loving, and inclusive environment that welcomes all students regardless of race, creed, or ethnic origin.

The center focuses on equipping students with the essential skills needed for independent adult life. To support diverse learning needs, the program provides integrated therapeutic services, including speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and access to a school nurse. Students also participate in vocational and technical services, alongside practical life-skills training such as computer literacy, cooking, art, music, and hand-eye coordination tasks.

For individuals over the age of 21 who may be unable to enter the traditional workforce due to functional levels, St. Joseph Center offers a state-licensed adult habilitation program. This program continues the center's mission of guiding individuals toward their full potential academically, physically, and emotionally through a curriculum centered on daily living skills and personal development.
