Tennyson Center for Children

Tennyson Center for Children is a specialized, school-based therapeutic day treatment program designed for K-12 students who have experienced complex trauma. The program serves students who have struggled in traditional public school settings and require intensive academic, social, emotional, and mental health support to thrive.

The school utilizes a trauma-informed approach, featuring classrooms staffed by licensed special education teachers and Youth Treatment Counselors. Using the ARC therapeutic model and a schoolwide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework, the center provides a highly structured and safe environment. Specialized ASPEN classrooms are available for students requiring concentrated support, including those with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, and complex mental health needs.

Comprehensive therapeutic services are integrated into the student experience, including individual, group, and family therapy, as well as occupational and speech-language services. As a Cognia-accredited and Colorado Department of Education-monitored facility, students can earn high school credit and work toward graduation. The program focuses on building consistent routines and essential skills to help students successfully reintegrate into their home schools and communities.
