The Deron School of New Jersey

The Deron School of New Jersey is a state-approved private school dedicated to serving students with multiple disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and Down syndrome. Since 1967, the school has provided a nurturing, family-oriented environment with campuses in Montclair and Union, focusing on helping each student reach their greatest potential through a personalized curriculum.

At the Montclair campus, the school serves older students from seventh grade through age 21, specifically supporting those whose needs cannot be met within their local school districts. The curriculum is designed to maximize academic skills, functional communication, and essential life skills. A key feature is the Community-Based Instruction and daily living skills program, which begins at age five and culminates in the Bridge Transition Program to prepare students for life after age 21.

The school offers a comprehensive range of therapeutic services and supports, including ABA, sensory integration, physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), speech-language therapy, and counseling. To help families and child study teams evaluate the program, The Deron School hosts monthly open houses and tours to showcase student success in action.
