Specialized autism and developmental disability school in Providence, RI with day and residential programs
The Groden Center is a specialized day and residential program in Providence, RI dedicated exclusively to children and youth with autism, behavioral disorders, and developmental disabilities. Since 1976, the Center has provided intensive, individualized support in the least restrictive settings possible, helping students build independence and achieve meaningful inclusion in their communities.
The program offers comprehensive instruction across all life domains: functional skills, communication development, emotional and social growth, physical and recreational activities, domestic responsibilities, community awareness, adaptive living skills, and vocational training. With a small student body of 66 and 9 classroom teachers, the Center maintains low student-to-staff ratios that enable personalized attention. The educational approach is grounded in evidence-based strategies tailored to each student's developmental needs, with ongoing research and investigation of effective interventions that benefit the broader special education field.
The Groden Center serves grades 1–12 and accepts students on a rolling admissions basis. Both day and residential options are available for families seeking structured, therapeutic educational environments.
