THE HAZEL PARK PROMISE ZONE

The Hazel Park Promise Zone is a community-focused initiative in Hazel Park, MI, dedicated to empowering high school graduates and young adults (ages 18-22) in navigating the transition to higher education and career paths. The program provides essential resources for students who may face challenges with college applications, financial aid, and standardized testing, offering a structured pathway to success through personalized guidance.

Recognizing the need for holistic support, the program offers specialized assistance with FAFSA applications, expert college selection, and extensive SAT preparation. For resident graduates, the initiative provides a unique tuition-free pathway to an associate's degree at Oakland Community College. The program is designed to support students through mentorship and developmental resources, helping them manage the complexities of post-secondary planning.

Since 2012, the Promise Zone has provided significant academic and financial support, including over $1 million in scholarships and mentorship for more than 240 students. By focusing on individualized assistance and community-based resources, the program helps students with diverse learning and transition needs build the tools necessary for long-term academic and professional achievement.
