Maryland School for the Blind in Nottingham, MD, serves students with visual impairments and multiple disabilities

The Maryland School for the Blind (MSB) is a private, nonprofit school dedicated to serving children and youth from infancy to age 21 who are blind, visually impaired, or multiply disabled. Located on a 100-acre campus in Nottingham, MD, MSB serves as a statewide resource center, providing both on-campus residential services and outreach programs to students across all 24 Maryland jurisdictions.

The curriculum is specifically designed to meet the unique needs of students with visual impairments and multiple disabilities. MSB integrates the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards with the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC), the Unique Learning System (ULS), and the Baltimore County Public Schools Curriculum. This specialized approach ensures students master essential literacy and mathematics skills while developing the specific compensatory skills necessary for independence.

Beyond academics, MSB offers a variety of extracurricular activities, including swimming, track and field, wrestling, and cheering, to promote well-rounded development. The school operates on a rolling admissions basis and offers summer school opportunities. As a nonsectarian institution, MSB focuses on preparing every student to become a successful, independent, and contributing member of their community.
