Thresholds Young Adult Program

Thresholds Young Adult Program provides a specialized therapeutic educational environment for adolescents and young adults ages 16 to 21 facing serious mental illness and emotional disturbances. The program is specifically designed to support students, many of whom also navigate learning disabilities, as they work toward earning a high school diploma. With a highly personalized 5:1 student-teacher ratio, the school ensures that educators can devote significant time and energy to each student's unique academic and emotional needs.

The program utilizes a comprehensive approach to recovery, integrating structure, behavioral management, and group processes. Beyond traditional individual and group therapy, Thresholds offers essential life-skills supports including vocational training, placement services, educational assistance, and housing options. This holistic model is designed to help students develop the stability and skills necessary to transition successfully into adulthood and become self-sustaining members of their community.

Accredited by the North Central Association and licensed by the Illinois State Board of Education, Thresholds provides a professional, nonsectarian setting for secondary education. The program uses individualized treatment plans tailored to the specific personal needs of each member. Admissions are handled on a rolling basis, providing flexibility for families navigating complex transitions.
