Watson Institute

The Watson Institute at the Sewickley Campus is a specialized private school licensed to serve children and young adults ages 3 to 21. The program is specifically designed for students with autism, cerebral palsy, neurological impairments, and other developmental disabilities. The school provides a highly structured and supportive environment tailored to meet the unique learning and developmental needs of each student.

The Institute offers an intensive level of support with an exceptional student-to-staff ratio of approximately 1:2. Each classroom is led by a special education teacher and two paraprofessionals, forming a dedicated team to implement individualized care. This multidisciplinary approach integrates related service professionals directly into the classroom setting, including speech and language therapists, occupational and physical therapists, behavior specialists, social workers, teachers of the visually impaired, and a school nurse.

Beyond core academics, students participate in specialized classes including art, music, library, and adapted physical education, all of which are staffed by certified teachers and paraprofessionals. This comprehensive approach ensures that therapeutic and developmental goals are integrated into every aspect of the student's school day. The school operates on a rolling admissions basis and offers summer school programs for continued engagement.
