Windward School The

The Windward School is a coeducational, independent day school dedicated exclusively to supporting students in grades 1-9 with language-based learning disabilities. Operating across three campuses—including Westchester Lower School, Westchester Middle School, and Manhattan LS/MS—the school provides a specialized environment for students of average to superior intelligence who require targeted instructional interventions.

The school utilizes a highly specialized multisensory curriculum and direct instruction in small class settings to help students improve their language skills. Beyond academics, the program focuses on social and emotional growth, helping students understand their unique learning styles, build confidence, and develop essential self-advocacy skills. Windward offers a nonsectarian program with an average class size of 12, supported by a trained staff of 46 teachers.
