Baltimore Woods Nature Day Camp in Marcellus, NY offers small-group outdoor exploration for children ages 5-12 with highly trained staff.
Baltimore Woods Nature Day Camp provides a sensory-rich, outdoor learning experience for children ages 5-12 within a 182-acre nature preserve. The program focuses on hands-on exploration of woods, fields, ponds, and streams. To ensure a supportive setting, counselors work in small groups of no more than 12 children, with activities tailored to specific age groups and physical abilities.
Safety is prioritized; the Camp Director and staff are Red Cross certified in First-Aid, CPR, and Emergency Response. Counselors use walkie-talkies for constant communication, and the camp undergoes annual Onondaga County Health Department inspections. Many counselors are also certified teachers with experience in child development.
One-week sessions run during mid-July, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with extended Before and After Care available. The cost is $140 per child per week, plus a required BWNC Family Membership. While the camp operates in most weather, specific protocols exist for thunderstorms. Campers should bring sturdy backpacks, water bottles, and gear such as hiking boots and long pants.
