Bearskin Meadow Camp

Bearskin Meadow Camp (BMC) is a premier wilderness resident camp specifically designed for children, teens, and families affected by diabetes. Located near the Sequoia National Forest in California, the camp operates on the foundational belief that diabetes does not limit a child's ability to participate in all the adventures of summer camp. The camp provides a uniquely supportive community of peers and adults who understand the daily medical and emotional challenges of living with diabetes.

From June to August, BMC offers a variety of specialized programs including kids camps, teen camps, buddy camps, family camps, and leadership training. These programs are designed to foster independence and cooperation through activities like overnight campouts, group hikes, and campfires. Because diabetes affects the entire family, the camp also provides dedicated programming for siblings and parents, ensuring the whole family unit feels supported and connected.

As an ACA-accredited, non-profit program operated by Diabetes Youth Families, BMC emphasizes a cooperative spirit that encourages every individual to succeed to their fullest extent. In addition to the summer resident programs, the organization offers year-round programming, often held in the San Francisco Bay Area, to maintain community connection throughout the year.
