Big Lake Youth Camp

Big Lake Youth Camp, through the Abba's Child Grief Recovery Camp program, provides a specialized 7-day residential experience for children and teens ages 7 to 17 who have experienced the death of an immediate family member. The camp focuses on support-based counseling, helping campers navigate the overwhelming and often scary feelings associated with loss in a safe, supervised environment.

The program integrates healing with adventure through daily two-hour support group sessions, where campers can interact with peers facing similar life challenges. To assist with the healing process, the camp utilizes therapeutic activities such as art, crafts, music, storytelling, and writing. These sessions are balanced with a wide variety of supervised recreational activities, including swimming, canoeing, archery, horseback riding, and team sports.

Designed to show children they are not alone, the camp schedule rotates through an array of engaging afternoon and evening activities, ranging from wilderness exploration to fine arts. This combination of structured emotional support and traditional summer camp fun provides a unique space for grief processing and peer connection.
