Camp Juliena

Camp Juliena offers two week-long, residential programs specifically designed for Deaf and Hard of Hearing campers. Founded in 1992, the camp provides a fully accessible environment where children can connect with peers who share similar experiences. The camp prioritizes communication accessibility, allowing campers to use whatever mode they choose—whether ASL, spoken language, or other methods—with full respect for their individual needs.

The camp experience focuses on fostering social and emotional growth, helping campers develop assertiveness, confidence, and independence. Through structured activities, participants work on building essential life skills, including problem-solving, teamwork, leadership, and independent living. The program is designed to help campers develop a positive self-image and learn to embrace and take pride in their Deaf identity.

Beyond recreational fun, Camp Juliena serves as a vital space for the continuation and reinforcement of Deaf Culture. As an independent, not-for-profit program operated by the Georgia Council for the Hearing Impaired, the camp provides a supportive community where campers can develop coping skills and lasting friendships in a safe, inclusive setting.
