Camp Michikamau

Camp Michikamau is a traditional overnight camp for youth and teens in Bear Mountain, NY, offering a balanced program of structure and choice. The camp provides a nurturing environment where campers can develop independence, self-confidence, and self-reliance. Each cabin is led by a well-trained counselor and an assistant counselor, ensuring a safe, supervised, and supportive living and learning space for campers to grow alongside peers of the same age.

The program features a variety of elective activities, including rock climbing, kayaking, outdoor skills, dance, and art projects. To support physical development and safety, every camper receives daily swim lessons taught by qualified instructors. The camp also offers unique out-of-camp overnight experiences, where campers learn essential life skills like hiking, fire building, and outdoor cooking under the stars.

As a YMCA-affiliated camp, the program emphasizes core values such as understanding, respect, and responsibility, with reflective Sunday morning sessions.
