Camp Buckskin is an overnight summer camp that offers specialized services for children and teenagers aged 6-18 who are experiencing academic and/or social skill difficulties, particularly those with AD/HD, Learning Disabilities, Aspergers or similar needs. The campers have average to well above average intelligence and have a world of potential in many areas that has yet to be developed. Camp Buckskin aims to provide extra help and support to convert their potentials into abilities, focusing on self-awareness and peer relations.
Since its establishment in 1959, more than 8,000 children have benefitted from their therapeutic program, experiencing personal growth and improvement as reported by parents, teachers, and other professionals involved. The camp effectively utilizes the summer to help youth stay focused, gain knowledge and skills, and produce a smoother transition to the new school year, ultimately leading to happier and more successful campers.
The camp's program works on two levels, providing a mix of traditional camp and academic activities each day, as well as a Personal Growth program to address and evaluate social skill goals, interpersonal communication skills, and problem-solving abilities. Camp Buckskin also provides parents with written reports and insights to help their child continue the progress made at camp.
By offering a supportive and therapeutic environment, Camp Buckskin aims to help children overcome academic and social challenges, supporting their personal growth and paving the way for long-term success. With a focus on consistency and collaboration with parents and teachers, Camp Buckskin is dedicated to helping children develop the skills and abilities necessary for a successful future.
