Chatham County JAM (Junior Appalachian Musicians)

Chatham County JAM (Junior Appalachian Musicians) offers an engaging summer camp experience for rising 3rd through 8th graders. This non-profit program focuses on traditional arts and music, providing a multi-sensory and inclusive environment where students can explore new interests through hands-on learning and community connection.

The camp features morning classes led by local musicians, allowing students of all skill levels to learn instruments such as the fiddle, mandolin, guitar, mountain dulcimer, and banjo. Afternoon activities are designed to engage various learning styles and interests, including outdoor games, traditional arts and crafts, clogging, square dancing, storytelling, and farm education. This diverse range of activities provides excellent opportunities for social interaction and sensory engagement.

Held at Silk Hope Farm Heritage Park, the camp provides a structured yet creative setting for children to experience folk singing, country cooking, and student showcases. The program is open to all students from any location, offering a welcoming space for children to develop new skills and build confidence through the traditional arts.
