Cheerio on the New River

Cheerio on the New River is a Christian-based adventure camp located in the mountains of Southwest Virginia, offering 7 to 14-day overnight sessions for boys and girls ages 10-16. The camp focuses on building self-confidence, leadership, and teamwork skills through structured outdoor challenges. To ensure a supportive and manageable environment, all groups are kept small, consisting of only 8-12 participants, which helps foster strong friendships and allows for closer supervision during adventures.

The camp provides a wide range of high-engagement activities designed to challenge young people in a safe and fun setting. Programs include rock climbing, canoeing, kayaking, whitewater rafting, backpacking, caving, mountain biking, sailing, and windsurfing. All necessary equipment is provided, and trips extend across North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia, offering diverse landscapes for exploration.

Operated by the YMCA of Greater High Point, Cheerio on the New River is ACA accredited, ensuring high standards of safety and programming. The camp's small group structure and focus on personal growth make it an excellent option for adolescents looking to develop resilience and social skills through outdoor education.
