Camp Buckskin is an overnight summer camp located in Isabella, MN that caters to boys and girls ages 6-18 who are facing academic and/or social skill difficulties. Many of the campers have AD/HD, Learning Disabilities, Aspergers, or similar needs, and have average to well above average intelligence. The camp specializes in providing extra help and support to help campers reach their full potential in various areas.
Since its founding in 1959, Camp Buckskin has helped over 8,000 children benefit from their therapeutic program, leading to personal growth and improvement as reported by parents, teachers, and other professionals involved. The camp's program effectively utilizes the summer to help youth stay focused and gain knowledge and skills while improving existing abilities, preparing them for a smoother transition to the new school year and overall greater success and happiness.
The camp's approach involves a mix of traditional camp and academic activities, along with a special focus on personal growth. Campers receive instruction and are recognized for their achievements as they progress through various levels in each activity. Additionally, a Personal Growth program helps campers work on social skill goals selected by their parents, addressing and evaluating these areas each day and providing written reports to parents at the end of camp.
Parents appreciate the strengthened self-concept resulting from their child's successes at camp, and the focus on improving peer relations and interpersonal communication skills. Camp Buckskin offers a supportive environment for children to continue making progress and developing crucial skills for future success.
With a consistent and effective approach that supplements the efforts of parents and teachers, Camp Buckskin provides a valuable opportunity for children to grow and thrive. If your child is experiencing academic and social challenges, consider how Camp Buckskin can help them now and for many years to come.
