Living Waters

Camp Buckskin is an overnight summer camp located in Isabella, MN, that is dedicated to serving boys and girls between the ages of 6-18 who are facing academic and/or social skill challenges. The camp specializes in providing support for those with AD/HD, Learning Disabilities, Aspergers, and similar needs, all while recognizing the potential and intelligence of each camper. Since its founding in 1959, Camp Buckskin has helped over 8,000 children benefit from its therapeutic program, leading to significant personal growth and improvement.

At Camp Buckskin, the focus is on utilizing the summer to help campers not only stay focused but gain knowledge and skills, ultimately leading to a smoother transition to the new school year and increased happiness and success. The camp's approach is consistent with that of the parents and teachers, working on two levels: traditional camp activities and academic instruction, as well as a Personal Growth program that addresses social skill goals selected by parents.

With no specific scheduled time for working on these areas, the camp provides 'teachable moments' throughout the day to improve peer relations, interpersonal communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and more. The camp's efforts are recorded and shared with parents in a written report, along with insights and observations to continue the progress made at camp. Camp Buckskin's accredited program not only focuses on the tangible achievements but also helps strengthen the self-concept and progress in peer relations, which is especially crucial for the special needs community.
