North East Westchester Special Recreation Summer Day Camp

North East Westchester Special Recreation Summer Day Camp provides a specialized summer experience for children and teens (ages 4-20) with developmental disabilities, including autism, ADHD, and Asperger's. Modeled after a traditional town day camp, the program offers a wide range of engaging activities such as gym, fitness, music, nature, art, and camping. To ensure physical wellness and sensory engagement, campers participate in daily swimming (weather permitting) and weekly community field trips.

Safety and specialized support are central to the camp's mission. The staff includes three recreation therapists, a certified behavior specialist, and an RN on-site every day to manage medical and behavioral needs. With a high staff-to-camper ratio of at least 1:3, the team is specifically trained in behavior prevention and intervention. This supportive environment is designed to help campers build confidence, develop social skills through community interaction, and form lasting friendships.

The camp operates in Briarcliff Manor, NY, offering 6-week sessions with costs up to $200 per week. The program focuses on providing a structured yet fun environment where campers can explore new hobbies and interests under expert supervision and encouragement.
