Isabella, MinnesotaOvernight Camp

Camp Buckskin, located in Isabella, MN, is an overnight summer camp specifically designed to serve boys and girls aged 6-18 who are facing academic and/or social skill difficulties, such as AD/HD, learning disabilities, Aspergers, and similar needs. With a focus on helping campers develop their potential and abilities, Camp Buckskin has been providing a therapeutic program since 1959 that has benefitted over 8,000 children.

At Camp Buckskin, campers receive a mix of traditional camp and academic activities designed to help them stay focused, gain knowledge and skills, and improve existing abilities. The camp also focuses on a Personal Growth program, where parents select social skill goals for their child to work on, and learning opportunities to improve peer relations, communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and other related skills occur organically throughout the day. These results are then recorded and shared with parents in a written report, along with insights and observations to help the child continue their progress after camp.

The camp's approach is consistent with that of parents and teachers, supplementing their efforts at home and school. By helping campers develop their potential and abilities, Camp Buckskin aims to provide a smoother transition to the new school year and ultimately help campers become happier and more successful.

It is clear that Camp Buckskin is committed to providing supportive and tailored programs and services for children with special needs. Their focus on personal growth, improving peer relations, and academic knowledge and skills aligns with the needs of the special needs community, making it a valuable resource for parents looking to support their children in overcoming hurdles and making progress in various aspects of their lives.
